Released just in time to cash in on the theatrical release of Shrek the Third, Shrek the Third for the PSP is more compelling as a brand marketing bullet point than it is as an actual video game. Unsurprisingly, the PSP version of Shrek the Third is little more than a straight port of the console version, though with fewer multiplayer options and dumbed-down presentation. While there are certainly worse movie-license games out there, Shrek the Third still feels slapdash and thoughtless. Its function to entertain is overwhelmed by its function to make money.

The puppet show story sequences are the most interesting part of Shrek the Third.
As is movie-license-game tradition, the story in Shrek the Third provides a broad pantomime of the film on which it is based. More interesting than the actual story--which sees Shrek tracking down an heir to the throne of Far Far Away while Prince Charming makes a coup attempt--is the puppet show format of the story sequences. Aside from these sequences, as well as a musical number masquerading as a boss battle, most attempts at humor in Shrek the Third fall flat. The celebrity soundalike voice cast can't nail it, the timing is stilted, or the material itself just isn't funny.

Shrek the Third is a by-the-numbers action adventure game, with a heavy focus on button-mashing combat, plenty of arbitrary item collection, some light platforming, and some even lighter puzzle-solving. With the exception of the medieval-themed high school, most of the game takes place in conventional fairytale locales, pitting you against pirates, witches, gargoyles, enchanted trees, and loads of generic thugs. In addition to the big, green, ill-tempered ogre Shrek, you'll play as Donkey, Puss in Boots, Arthur, Fiona, and Sleeping Beauty at different points in the game.

Felled enemies will drop fairy dust that will fill up your three-part special attack meter. Using your character's special attack will drain one section of the meter. If you fill up all three sections of the meter while playing as either Shrek or Fiona, you can trigger a special ogre power, which slows down time, Matrix-style. The game's already easy, and the ogre power just makes it more so. There are other minor differences among the characters, such as Puss in Boots' ability to double-jump and Sleeping Beauty's ability to glide slowly to the ground from high falls. These differences are mostly irrelevant because combat is such a dominant force in the game and every character relies on the same mindless two-button attack combos.

The other gameplay elements in Shrek the Third might have provided some respite from the monotonous combat, but they end up being no more interesting. The puzzles, which only pop up from time to time, barely even qualify as puzzles; at their most complex, they require basic pattern-recognition skills. Much more common, and coincidentally much more aggravating, are the platforming sequences. These sequences are plagued by controls that are touchy and inaccurate. Fixed camera angles also make many jumps much harder to gauge than necessary, forcing you to make completely blind jumps on more than one occasion. The best thing about the single-player experience in Shrek the Third is a pair of castle-smashing sequences where you use two different siege weapons to demolish a series of castle towers. It's just too bad that these sequences only account for a few minutes of the four to five hours it'll take you to get through the story. Luckily, there's a local two-player variant of this sequence that you can play outside of the story mode, though it tragically requires two people to make the mistake of buying Shrek the Third for the PSP.

Twenty years ago, this game would have been a lunchbox.
Shrek the Third is no more ambitious in its presentation than it is with its gameplay. Though they all have that creepy dead-eye look, the main characters are good approximations of their cinematic counterparts. Simple environments are plastered with muddy, nondescript textures, and a lack of lighting effects makes everything look flat. What's worse than what you're looking at is how it's presented. The game suffers from a terrible fixed camera that will swing around in a nauseating fashion, and the angle it presents often isn't anywhere close to ideal.

What's perhaps most depressing about Shrek the Third is that the actual quality of the game will have little, if any, bearing on its success. The game seems to operate under the notion that its audience simply isn't concerned with getting an experience that's interesting or inventive; sadly, it's probably right. Source: GameSpot

about PSP ISO downloads, how and what to do when you want to
download a PSP game and how to use it afterwards. For those who
are new to this, the term ISO in this case refers to an optical
disc image, an image of the game disc.

First things first, as it may have been indicated by the title
of the article we will need to download something. Now, a
variety of download methods exist: there is everything from P2P

That said, once you get P2P working you can use websites like
piratebay and isohunt to find almost anything under the sun, all
the games you could want and everything beyond that as well, but
I will leave that for another time. If what you want is not on
pirate bay or isohunt, either it is not on a P2P site or you may
have to use some of the more obscure websites. Some of those can
also contain viruses, fakes, pretty much the usual collection of
internet *surprises,* so be careful.

Okay, we will assume you found your game iso. If the game was
zipped, you can un-zip it using winzip or winRaR, (but I am sure
you already knew that.) Now you are going to want to plug the
PSP into your computer using the USB port. Ports are located on
the front or back of your computer, sometimes both. Use a handy
USB cable for this. Once your USB cable is connected, and after
a bit of waiting for the computer to load it in, the PSP should
show up as a new removable drive. Make a folder called *iso* in
the root directory on your PSP, and move the game into this
folder.

With that done all you need to do is disconnect the PSP, start
it up, go to *game* on your PSP and run your newly added game.

There is an official Sony PSP download service that allows you
to download a limited number of PSOne games in exchange for a
fee. This PSP download service allows you download the games
directly to your PSP via Wi-Fi utilising the PSPs wireless
capabilities. You can then play the games via an emulator. You
are also able to download some movies, as well.

Well, in addition to the official Sony PSP download service
there are a rapidly growing number of PSP download services on
the internet. I should put the term "download service" in
quotes, though, because even though they bill themselves as
sites offering downloadable content, they are actually just
website interfaces between the user and content that is freely
available on the internet.

Now, in order to make full use of downloaded content, in other
words, in order to play downloaded games, your PSP has to be
version 1.50, or downgraded to 1.50 and then upgraded to a
custom firmware. (Unfortunately, if your version is 3.10 or
higher you cannot downgrade your PSP at this time.)

I must note that not all "freely available" content is "legally
freely available." If any of these sites actually owned copies
of the material they are supposedly offering to you (eg. movies
and PSP games) and made that available for download for a
membership price, you don't have to be a lawyer to realize that
they would be in violation of copyright laws.

If you do sign up for one of these "download services" look
carefully at the website to which your membership gives you
access. It is most likely an iframe with a link bar down the

Have you been going crazy trying to put movies on your PSP? Many people Know it is possible but are lost at how to do it.
Here is a simple way in which it can be done. it is easy once you know how to do it.
First like any directions...You need to have your parts and tool lists
512 MB Pro Duo Stick (This is what holds your movie files (MP4)
DVD Player installed in your computer
DVD Ripper (This pulls the movie from the DVD to your computer, its a computer program. you can download this)
PSP Video Converter (converts movie and video files to MP4 format that you watch on your PSP.)
(Note: There is software that has both the DVD Ripper and Converter combined)
USB Cable
1. Put your DVD in the DVD ROM drive and fire up your DVD ripper, select the movie or video you want to put on your PSP and hit the "extract" or "rip" button. Make sure you tell it where to save the file to.
2. If you already have movie and/or video files on your pc then all you need to do is hit "add" from your DVD ripper and tell it where you want to save the file to.
3. Select the file that you saved to your computer and hit the "extract and/or encode" button from your PSP video converter and save that file.
3. If you have DVD Ripper/PSP Video converter combo software...You can combine steps 1,2 and 3.
At this point you have the files on your PC...and they are in the correct format.
4. How to download or transfer your movies to PSP? Just connect your PSP with your PC with the USB cable, and create a folder on your Memory Stick called "MP_ROOT." and create a sub-folder called "100MNV01." under it. Copy your MP4 files to this location (no need to copy the .HTM files).
5. Now on your PSP go to video and memory stick and watch your movie!

After nearly a year of keeping gamers in the dark about PlayStation Portable (PSP) software, Sony unveiled the first-ever title for its eagerly awaited handheld—Death, Jr., a cartoony 3D action-platformer from developer Backbone Entertainment (formerly Digital Eclipse, maker of Spider-Man: The Movie and the Spyro the Dragon series on Game Boy Advance). Sony Adds Web Browser to PSP Mobile Game Device

NEW YORK (Reuters)—Sony Corp. is adding Internet access to its Play Station Portable in a bid to increase the mobile gaming device's appeal as a handheld entertainment center, the company said on Wednesday.
Sony Computer Entertainment America is offering PSP users a software upgrade that will allow wireless Internet access on the device, including a new Web browser to connect to news, entertainment content, online searches and e-mail.
The software is also built to increase data security on the device and enhance digital photo-sharing and video playback capabilities, the company said.
"The Internet browser and other added functionality ... will further enhance the user experience beyond the unprecedented portable entertainment already provided by PSP," said Andrew House, executive vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment America.
Japan's Sony has sold nearly 2 million PSP units in North America since launching the product in March.
